Giuseppina Bozzacchi

Giuseppina Bozzacchi was an Italian ballerina, noted for creating the role of Swanhilda in Lo Delibes ballet Copplia at the age ofwhile dancing for the Paris Opera Ballet.

Bozzacchi, who was born in Milan, had come to Paris to study with Mme Dominique. The choreographer, Arthur SaintLon, and the director of the Acadmie Royale de Musique, mile Perrin, had been searching for a suitable Swanhilda, after deciding that none of the ballerinas previously considered Lontine Beaugrand, Angelina Fioretti and Adle Grantzou were suitable. They even asked the composer Lo Delibes to seek out a suitable Swanhilda on his trip to Italy. He returned emptyhanded, but in the meantime SaintLon and Perrin had discovered Bozzacchi.
